Academic and Practical Experience

Our team is comprised of leading Welsh and European economists and policy advisors. All of our senior staff possess postgraduate economics degrees and have a wealth of academic and practical experience.

Staff hold memberships in a range of professional and other organisations including the UK Evaluation Society, the Regional Studies Association, the Institute of Welsh Affairs, the Royal Economic Society and the Society of Business Economists.

Policy Awareness

Many of our senior consultants have worked previously in Government departments (in the UK, Ireland and Canada) and so have a close understanding of the policy development process and a sensitivity to political factors.

In addition, a number of staff members have been on secondments to other organisations including the European Commission, the UK Competition Commission and  UK Trade & Investment.

Research Skills

We are able to use a wide variety of both qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques to assist our work, including:

  • scenario building;
  • statistical analysis; and
  • mathematical and financial modelling.
We are also experienced in using a wide range of quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques, including:

  • rapid evidence assessments;
  • survey questionnaires;
  • interviews;
  • workshops; and
  • focus groups.

We are very familiar with the main Welsh, UK and European official statistical sources and frequently work with specialist market research firms.


We have access to extensive language skills in our  team, which can be particularly useful when reviewing evidence and experience from other countries. Language skills available in the team include Welsh, English, Irish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Danish.
